The Heather Ridge Golf Course has a very rich and interesting history that has been built through family, friends, community and sports. Here at Heather Ridge we are working to bring all of these ingredients back to the core of the club.
Owner, Rob Lanphier of Pour Kids saw the opportunity to acquire Noonan’s Banquet Hall and Noonan’s Tavern at Heather Ridge as a great opportunity to do exactly that. Rob and his management team have lived, worked and played in the Aurora, Colorado community for over 25 years.
Heather Ridge was originally opened in 1972 by Environmental Developer Inc who was also the developer of Windsor Gardens in Lowry. At that time the dues were only $3.00 a month for full access to club which included indoor and outdoor swimming pools, tennis and racquetball as well as golf. The clubs first member was Colorado Governor John Love.
In the mid 1980’s the club was taken over by Resolution Trust of Wyoming and then purchased by American Golf in the early 1990’s. In 2002 the property was purchased by Dick Jorgensen at which time he sold off the racquet and tennis building land. In 2008 this once private golf club became a public facility.
Heather Ridge is now owned by the owners of 1,127 homes that are part of 10 HOA’s surrounding the Heather Ridge golf course who together form the Heather Ridge Metropolitan District.
Some of the notable people who have played in tournaments at Heather Ridge are Betsy King (LPGA Pro in the 80’s and 90’s), Bobby Anderson (Denver Bronco), Jimmy Connors and Leslie Nielson (Actor). There are also many entertainers that have performed for charitable events at the club, Margaret Whiting, Gordon MacRae, New Christie Minstrels and the Kingston Trio to name a few.
We are focused on bringing back community events and entertainment that were once the cornerstone of Heather Ridge. Years ago, the Colorado Springs Symphony Orchestra performed on the course during a spectacular 4th of July fireworks display. This is exactly the sort of tradition that we are hoping to resurrect.
